My name is Mike and I am continuing my triathlon journey.  I was doing a fair bit of running and then in 2007 decided to branch out into triathlon instead of only focusing on running.  I completed my goal for 2008 of completing an Ironman 70.3 race (it was Austria 70.3) and then took the next step towards my goal for 2009, which was to complete a full Ironman.

In July 2009 I completed my first Ironman – IM Austria!

So from now on, this blog will serve as a diary, of sorts, to record the ups and downs and highs and lows of my triathlon career! Of course, real life, which pays the bills and keeps a roof over my head, takes precedence and often results in patchy training and, unfortunately, general lack of routine.

This blog will now also include non-triathlon posts! Probably mostly IT/techie stuff but may contain other topics which I consider may be of interest 🙂 I hope you enjoy!

  1. Hey, congrats on the ironman success! I’m much the same, I did the London marathon and switched more to triathlon with my first ironman in monaco this september. I was wondering if you have any tips for the bike because i’m hoping for a 5 hour time and can’t find the gradient of the bike section? I’m good on flats but not so great on hills and after stumbling across your review I was wondering how much I need to train to get a 3 hour bike time?

    Thanks,

    Chris
